Ghana’s Pride: Minister of Health Celebrates Global Nursing Award Winner Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti

As part of her post-award national engagements following her historic win of the 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award, distinguished oncology nurse specialist Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti paid a high-level visit to the Ministry of Health (Ghana) to present her award and engage in strategic discussions on advancing oncology nursing in the country.
Mrs. Ohene Oti was warmly received by the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, together with senior officials of the Ministry. The Minister congratulated her for achieving one of the highest honours in global nursing, commending her for bringing significant recognition to Ghana’s healthcare sector and for elevating the profile of the nursing profession on the world stage.
The visit created a platform for strategic dialogue on strengthening cancer care services, expanding oncology nursing training, and enhancing national capacity for early detection, patient navigation, and survivorship support. The Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve cancer outcomes and applauded Mrs. Ohene Oti’s leadership in championing specialized oncology education.
Mrs. Ohene Oti expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry of Health for its continued support to healthcare professionals across Ghana. She reaffirmed her commitment to using her award platform to drive meaningful change, expand oncology nursing education, and contribute to national efforts to reduce the cancer burden. She highlighted the need for collaborative action between policymakers, educators, and clinical leaders to accelerate progress in cancer prevention and treatment.
